Terms of Service

By accessing or using Academe, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service. These terms apply to all users, including those who access the service without creating an account.

Academe provides an AI-powered research workspace that allows users to upload documents, organize research, and generate text with the assistance of artificial intelligence. The service is provided “as is” and is subject to change.

You retain full ownership of all documents, notes, and content you upload to Academe. By uploading content, you grant Academe a limited license to process and store that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any content you submit to the service.

You agree not to use Academe to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
• Upload malicious content or attempt to compromise the service
• Engage in academic dishonesty in violation of your institution's policies
• Resell or redistribute access to the service
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the service at scale

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account at security@academe.app.

Academe offers both free and paid subscription plans. Free plan features and limits are subject to change with reasonable notice. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. AI outputs should be reviewed by the user before reliance.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Academe shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or research, arising from your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or via a notice in the application. Continued use of the service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
