What are credits?
Credits are Academe’s usage currency for Research Agent turns, analysis, Research Agent runs, proofreading, and other model-backed work. Usage depends on task complexity and routing tier.

How credits are consumed
Credit use depends on request length, routing tier, and response complexity. Rough guide:

Monthly credit allowances
Credits reset on your billing date. If you exhaust your allowance, model-backed features pause until renewal. Editor, citations, file management, and voice notes continue to work normally.
Monitoring usage
Your remaining credits and usage breakdown live in Settings → Billing. A progress bar shows how much of the monthly allowance is left.
Money-back guarantee
Managing your subscription
Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from Settings. Changes take effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
Canceling keeps paid features until the end of your current period, then reverts to Free. Your documents and projects are never deleted.
