Portability
Account Export
Your work, in a portable archive that you can download from account settings.
What is included
The export is a single ZIP archive covering everything you have authored:
- ProjectsEvery project you own with its name, description, and timestamps.
- NotesTipTap notes as JSON plus a human-readable Markdown copy of each note.
- Note version historyEvery saved revision of every note as JSON.
- Uploaded filesPDFs, Word documents, slides, LaTeX source, and any other files you uploaded, bundled under files/. Anything over 100 MB falls back to a 24-hour signed URL in the manifest.
- ReferencesEvery reference as structured JSON and as a single references.bib BibTeX file.
- Conversations and messagesEvery conversation in every project, plus every assistant and user message.
- MemoriesBoth project memory and account-wide user memory.
- Annotations and commentsPDF highlights, sticky notes, and note comments.
- ProfileYour institution, field, ORCID, bio, and research interests.
Secrets are intentionally excluded: OAuth tokens, API keys, billing identifiers, and internal usage metering. Items still in the 30-day trash are not exported either; restore them via Settings → Recycle Bin first, then re-export.
How to request one
Open Settings → Privacy & Data and click Download Export. The archive builds and downloads as academe-export-YYYY-MM-DD.zip. Large accounts take up to five minutes to assemble; keep the tab open while it builds.
Why this matters
Academe is a workspace, not a lock-in
A thesis, a dissertation, or a career’s worth of notes should not be trapped behind one company’s login. The export keeps your work portable.
